Atlas FC wins second consecutive Liga MX title with victory over Pachuca
Atlas FC won their second consecutive Liga MX title on Sunday after defeating Pachuca 3-2 over two legs. Atlas ended a 70-year championship drought in 2021 and has followed that up with another convincing trophy run.
The final against Pachuca was an exciting, back-and-forth affair, with both home and away matches offering plenty of action and controversial referee decisions. Atlas showed their mettle over both legs and were able to grind out both results against a hungry Pachuca side.

The disconnect between Liga MX champions Atlas and Mexico's national team
Significance of the victory
Felipe Cardenas, staff writer: It proves that Atlas' 2021 championship was far from a fluke. Atlas are a well-constructed and hard-working team with an experienced manager.
This second title reestablishes the Atlas brand alongside the richer clubs in Mexico like Tigres, Club America and Monterrey. Atlas has the infrastructure to continue competing at this level in Liga MX and will certainly look to make history in the next tournament.

Is Atlas becoming a dynasty in Liga MX?
Cardenas: A modern one perhaps. Atlas joins a handful of clubs that have won consecutive league titles. This version of Atlas have surged to the top of Mexican soccer, while clubs with more championship pedigree fail to reach their respective expectations.
The dynasty label is one that will be debated. One thing that's certain is the legends status that the current Atlas roster has achieved.
